Creating a Touchscreen Tutorial

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

The creation of a touchscreen is a process requiring several skills.  This tutorial will explain each skill necessary to create a touchscreen of your own design.

It is assumed that POSitive is installed and functional, that some inventory items have been added to the Inventory Center, and that you are ready to take on some "Assignments" which will test your newly learned skills.

You do not have to have an actual touchscreen monitor as you are creating and testing your design.  In fact, it is best to not use a touchscreen monitor at this stage.  You will need a monitor capable of displaying 1280 by 1024 pixels or greater to handle the full Touchscreen Designer layout.

Existing Touchscreen

Your dealer may have already provided you with a touchscreen customized for your business type.  If so, you will want to take safeguards to protect that design and at the same time learn how to make adjustments to meet new needs.

Be aware that some buttons may have "dealer customized" names and icons which will be extraneous to any discussions in this Help file.

Creating From Scratch

A touchscreen needs to be functional and attractive.  There are some pre-defined buttons for processes such as taking tender, looking up inventory which cannot be scanned, and changing quantities or prices.  Then there are other buttons which allow you to add specific products to the invoice without having to use a scanner.

This will all be explained in this tutorial.

Whenever you need more assistance, contact your Dealer or POSitive Software Company.
