Show Costs - to display cost column instead of backorder column

(see Pre-Defined )

At times it is useful to know the total cost as well as the line item costs of items on an invoice.  You may be considering offering a discount to the customer, but you do not want to go below a reasonable profit level.  Choosing this button will allow you to make informed decisions.

There is a security option which can be applied to specific employees which will prevent them from being able to use this button.

Invoice Style Button

The Invoice Style is best suited to use the Show Cost button.  You will see line item costs, total invoice cost and the Profit on the invoice.

Register Style Button

The Register Style will show line item costs and total invoice costs.  There is not room for the Profit line with this invoice style.  As stated above, the BackOrder value is replaced with the Cost.  It is possible that the column title is not changing from BOrdr to Cost, however this can be accomplished by going to Maintenance: Definitions: Invoice Layout and making a title change. Contact POSitive support for more information.

Touchscreen Style Button

This button will show a correct total cost and profit for the invoice as a whole at the bottom of the screen.

However, at the time of publication of this Help document, the Show Cost button will not display the cost of the line item as it does for the other screens.  Instead, it shows the markup percentage under the Discount column.  To illustrate, the following picture shows the same inventory item which has a cost of 5.33 being sold at 3 different price levels:  10.66, 8.88, and 7.61.

The DISC column shows that the markup percentages are 50.00, 39.98, and 29.96 respectively.  This information is not as useful as knowing the actual line cost of the item, but it is because of the limitations of the Transaction List which has not been resolved as of this writing.
